UPSTREAM PEOPLE GALLERY ANNUAL JURIED SHOW

GREAT NEWS!  I have been accepted into the 12th annual online art exhibit at the Upstream People Gallery in Omaha, Nebraska.  My work is currently online at www.upstreampeoplegallery.com.  This online international exhibition will be up through from April 1, 2010 to March 31, 2011.  I have five pieces in this show--Three Crosses - John 3:16; Walking through The Fire (Isaiah 43?2); Passing Through The Waters; Angel Aura, and Smooth Landing.

The artwork that was chosen is part of a series of pieces that have a spiritual and/or philosophical theme to it that illustrates a concept, a quote, or a Bible verse.  I plan to do a lot more of these.

This is what the art curator of this juried show, Laurence Bradshaw, said about my work:

"BEVERLY CHICK of Boise, Idaho masters watercolor and colored pencil with a rich textural treatment in her piece Angel Aura. The fluidity and softness of the clothing and hair and of course the serenity of the face looking upwards is quite beautiful. This is contrasted to the more roughly treated surrounding of complimentary coloration. Also quite nice is the powerful effects created in Three Crosses - John 3:16."

MY FINE ARTS STUDIO

I have decided to join an artist's organization called My Fine Art Studio. It is brand new and it doesn't cost much to join either.  My art is now on another online gallery, www.myfineartsstudio.com/bevchick.     This site will be marketed to get lots of hits and will be top listed on some search engines. This organization also helps to book art shows for me so I don't have to do it myself.  It is owned and managed by Casey McMullen.  So far I have had two art shows, one at Nampa Civic Center and one at Syringa Winery.  There are more in the works too, including holiday shows.

MY ART  IN "DIANA" COFFEE TABLE BOOK!

The cover of "Diana in Art" is pictured at the upper left in (bottom left).  My portrait of Princess Diana (bottom left) is on pages 96-97 of this book.

I think the book is beautiful and I am very happy with the results.  It was fascinating to see so many individual artist's interpret of Diana.  This book is a wonderful tribute to a very special lady.

This book was compiled by Mem Mehmet who lives in London, England.  It was published by Caxton Publishing Group/Pop Art Books.

This book got no publicity in the states (that I know of) but I heard from Mem Mehmet and he said it did well in the UK and in Canada.   So that makes up for my disappointment that it didn't do well in the states.

WIT & WISDOM:  THE CHICK CHUCKLE

"Who was the dirty slimball who turned the dryer on while I was sleeping in it!"

"Did you ever have that sinking feeling?"

"Bring me Solo and the Wookie.  They will pay for this outrage!"

"What pie?  I didn't see any pie."

"Who needs a blanket when you've got hound dog ears."

If you loved me, you'd let me stay dirty! "If you squeeze any harder, my eyes will pop out!"

This cat bed smells like stinky feet.

A LIST OF DUMB QUESTIONS THAT FOREST RANGERS HAVE BEEN ASKED.

Question:  "At what elevation do deer turn into elk?"  Answer: "That would be either the 12th floor, sporting goods, or 15th floor, divine intervention."

Question:  "When in the life cycle of an elk does it become a moose?"  Answer:  Just before it reverts to its larval stage, commonly referred to as a deer."

Question:  "What time do the animals get locked away for the night?"  Answer:  "When the bars close."

Question:  "Do you guys turn off Old Faithful at night to save energy?" Answer:  "No...that's why your electricity sometimes goes out."
